Hair Stylist Website Design – Styled by Allesse

Hair Stylist Website Design – Styled by Allesse

Styled by Allesse is a hairstyling business dedicated to making little girls feel like princesses through creative and beautiful hairstyles. With a background in hair styling through East Kent College (EKC) and over seven years working in childcare, Allesse discovered her passion for styling while working at a nursery.

Creating braids, twists and sparkling hairstyles for children quickly became something she loved doing, and Styled by Allesse was created to bring that passion to a wider audience.

To help launch the business, I designed the logo, brand identity and website, creating a simple but elegant platform where parents can learn about the services and book appointments online.

The website can be viewed at:
styledbyallesse.co.uk

The project began with the creation of the Styled by Allesse logo and branding. Because the business focuses on young clients and special occasions, the branding needed to feel:

  • Friendly
  • Elegant
  • Playful
  • Suitable for a children’s styling business

The visual identity was designed to reflect the idea of making every child feel special, confident and glamorous.

The logo and colour palette provide a soft, welcoming look while still feeling professional enough to represent the business as it grows.

A Website Built Using “Website in a Day”

This project was developed using my Website in a Day service, which is designed for small businesses and start‑ups that need a professional website quickly and affordably.

The concept behind this service is simple:
By working closely with the business owner during a single day of development, the website can be designed, built and launched within a very short timeframe.

For many service‑based businesses, a simple and well‑structured website is often all that is required to start generating enquiries and bookings.

One‑Page Website Design

The Styled by Allesse website uses a single‑page layout with navigable sections, allowing visitors to smoothly scroll through the different parts of the site.

This style of website is particularly effective for small businesses because it keeps everything clear and easy to navigate.

Sections on the page include:

  • About the stylist
  • Hairstyling services
  • Example styles and inspiration
  • Online booking
  • Contact information

Visitors can use the navigation menu to jump directly to each section of the page.

Online Booking System

A key feature of the website is the online booking system, which allows parents to easily schedule appointments.

This makes it much easier for customers to book styling sessions without needing to send messages back and forth to confirm availability.

The booking system helps streamline the process by allowing clients to:

  • Select available time slots
  • Book appointments online
  • Manage their bookings easily

For small service businesses, this type of functionality can significantly improve efficiency while providing a better customer experience.

A Website Designed for a Growing Business

The Styled by Allesse website provides a strong online foundation for the business as it grows.

By combining:

  • Custom branding
  • A professional website
  • Online booking functionality

The platform helps introduce the business to new customers while making it easy for existing clients to schedule appointments.

My Role in This Project

For this project I was responsible for:

Technologies Used

  • WordPress CMS
  • Divi theme builder
  • Online booking integration
  • Responsive one‑page website design

Photography Online Course Website Design – Shutter Mastery

Photography Online Course Website Design – Shutter Mastery

Shutter Mastery is a new online training platform for photographers, developed as part of the Scorpion Media Group. After several years teaching photography in person – including the highly successful Back to Basics course delivered to over 1,500 students in just three years – I began receiving many requests for an online version of the training.

Some students couldn’t attend due to travel distance, scheduling conflicts or geographic location, so the idea behind Shutter Mastery was born:
A complete online education platform where photographers can learn at their own pace from anywhere in the world.

The platform launched with the brand‑new online version of Back to Basics and is designed to grow into a library of photography courses from trainers all across the UK, eventually supporting live events, workshops, trade shows and international training opportunities.

Creating a Professional Photography Education Platform

The goal of Shutter Mastery was to create a platform that felt:

  • Modern
  • Premium
  • Easy to use
  • Interactive
  • Suitable for both beginner and advanced photographers

The website was developed using WordPress, Divi and Tutor LMS, providing a strong foundation for a scalable online learning platform capable of supporting thousands of students.

photography online course website

Back to Basics – Now Fully Online

The first course launched on the platform is the online version of Back to Basics, the signature training programme that originally made the teaching business so successful.

This course teaches complete beginners:

  • How to use their camera
  • How settings affect creative control
  • How to shoot confidently in Full Manual Mode
  • Composition and exposure fundamentals
  • How to understand and control light

The online version recreates the in‑person experience through:

  • Interactive video lessons
  • Practice exercises
  • Experiments
  • Quizzes
  • A final certification exam

Students can now learn everything from turning their camera on to shooting confidently in manual mode — entirely online.

Built for Long‑Term Expansion

Shutter Mastery is designed as more than just a single course website.

It will become a platform where photographers from all over the UK can contribute:

  • Online courses
  • Workshops
  • Masterclasses
  • Guest sessions
  • Live seminars
  • Industry training events

This opens the door for collaborations with:

  • Professional photographers
  • Brands
  • Training educators
  • Exhibitors and trade partners

The website’s structure and branding were built to support this long‑term vision.

photography online course website

Powered by WordPress, Divi & Tutor LMS

To build a robust and scalable learning environment, the following tools were used:

WordPress

A flexible content management system that allows the site to expand as new courses and features are added.

Divi

Used for the visual layout, page design and responsive structure, allowing precise control of the branding and design elements.

Tutor LMS

A professional learning management system that powers:

  • Course modules
  • Interactive video delivery
  • Lesson progression
  • Quizzes and experiments
  • Certification
  • Student dashboards
  • Reporting & analytics

This combination creates an intuitive and professional online learning experience for students.

Interactive Learning Features

A key part of the project was ensuring the learning experience felt interactive and engaging, especially for visual learners such as photographers.

The site includes:

  • Interactive video lessons
  • Hands‑on experiments to reinforce learning
  • Quizzes throughout the course
  • final certification upon completion
  • A secure student dashboard
  • Course progress tracking

This helps bridge the gap between in‑person and online learning.

Event Website Design & Online Booking System – The Croatia Challenge

Event Website Design & Online Booking System – The Croatia Challenge

The Croatia Challenge is a major off‑road motorsport event held in Križevci, Croatia, attracting teams and spectators from across Europe. For the past two years, I have been responsible for photographing and filming the event, creating high‑quality media that captures the excitement and intensity of the challenge.

Although the event has continued to grow, the previous website was outdated and did not represent the scale or professionalism of the competition. The organisers approached me to redesign and rebuild the website to create a premium online presence, streamline competitor booking and generate more interest from competitors, sponsors and spectators.

The finished website is a modern, fast and highly functional platform built using WordPress, WooCommerce and Divi, complete with a custom event booking workflow.

Creating a Premium Website for an International Audience

Because competitors travel from across Europe to take part, the website needed to feel professional, modern and easy to navigate. The new design uses:

  • High‑quality media from previous years (photography and videography I created)
  • Clear navigation
  • Strong branding
  • Responsive layout for all devices

Although the event is based in Croatia, the website is presented in English as this is the most commonly used language among international racers. To provide accessibility for local users, GTranslate was installed to automatically detect and translate the website into the visitor’s local language.

Fully Automated Online Booking System

One of the biggest challenges the event organisers faced was managing the manual booking and invoicing process. Previously, competitors filled out a form, and organisers had to manually:

  • Create invoices
  • Manage email communication
  • Track payments
  • Handle team updates

To eliminate this, I built a complete WooCommerce‑powered ticketing system that automates the entire process.

Competitors can now:

  • Purchase race entry tickets directly through the website
  • Add team members during checkout
  • Add optional extras such as:
    • Food packages
    • Media packages
    • Additional passengers
  • Add more team members or extras after booking

The system automatically:

  • Generates a PDF invoice
  • Emails the invoice to both the competitor and the organisers
  • Includes deposit instructions
  • Requests a photo of the competitor’s vehicle
  • Updates competitors when admin marks payments as received

This drastically reduces administration time—staff now only need to check the bank and update the order status, and all communication happens automatically.

Booking Success – 77% of Tickets Sold in 3 Days

The results of the new booking system were immediate.

Within 3 days of launch, 77% of all available tickets were sold.

Only 2 spaces remain with 100 days to go until the event.

This demonstrates how much easier and more user‑friendly the new booking system is for competitors—and how necessary it was to modernise the platform.

Updated Rules and Regulations

To eliminate confusion and disputes among drivers, I updated and reorganised the rules section.

This includes:

  • Detailed class definitions
  • Technical requirements
  • Safety rules
  • Competition guidelines

Having everything clearly documented helps ensure fair competition and reduces arguments on the day.

event website design

To help spectators and competitors stay engaged throughout the year, the new website includes:

  • blog section for event announcements
  • gallery showcasing photographs and videos
  • Professional media captured during previous events (photography and videography by me)

This helps build excitement and gives sponsors more visibility across the site.

A Website Designed for Growth

The Croatia Challenge website is now built to support long‑term growth of the event.

Key features include:

  • Multi‑language support
  • Automated booking
  • Professional design and branding
  • High‑quality photography and video
  • Modern navigation and layout
  • Easy administration for event staff

The website now reflects the premium, international motorsport event that The Croatia Challenge has become.

My Role in This Project

For The Croatia Challenge website, I was responsible for:

  • Full website design using WordPress, WooCommerce and Divi
  • Developing a custom online booking workflow
  • Integrating automated PDF invoicing
  • Updating rules and class documentation
  • Installing and configuring multilingual support
  • Providing photography and videography for the website
  • Structuring the navigation and user experience
  • Creating a more visually engaging and premium layout

Technologies Used

  • WordPress CMS
  • WooCommerce event booking
  • Divi page builder
  • GTranslate multilingual system
  • Automated PDF invoicing
  • Custom checkout structure
  • Professional photography and videography

Fashion E‑commerce Website Design – Fairy Queen

Fashion E‑commerce Website Design – Fairy Queen

Fairy Queen was a bespoke dress maker based in Maidstone, Kent, specialising in custom dresses for special occasions. The business required a professional website where customers could both purchase dresses online and request bespoke designs.

To support this, I designed and developed a WordPress website with WooCommerce, creating an online shop for ready‑to‑purchase dresses while also integrating forms that allowed customers to request custom dress designs.

Alongside the website development, I also produced all of the photography used on the site, including organising and photographing the model used to showcase the dresses.

Creating an Online Boutique

The goal of the project was to create a website that reflected the elegant and bespoke nature of the brand while also making it easy for customers to browse and purchase dresses online.

The website needed to function both as:

  • An online shop for ready‑made dresses
  • A platform for bespoke dress enquiries

Using WordPress and WooCommerce allowed the business to manage product listings, pricing and orders while maintaining a visually appealing storefront.

fashion ecommerce website design

WooCommerce Online Store

The website included a WooCommerce powered online store, allowing visitors to browse and purchase dresses directly through the website.

Key features included:

  • Product listings with detailed descriptions
  • High quality product photography
  • Secure online checkout
  • Easy product management for the business owner

WooCommerce provided the flexibility needed for a small boutique clothing brand while allowing the website to grow as the product range expanded.

fashion ecommerce website design

Bespoke Dress Order Forms

Because Fairy Queen specialised in custom made dresses, it was important to include a way for customers to request bespoke designs.

To support this, the website included custom order forms that allowed customers to submit details about their requirements.

These forms enabled customers to provide information such as:

  • Dress style preferences
  • Measurements
  • Event type
  • Additional design requests

This allowed the business owner to review enquiries and respond with tailored quotes for bespoke dresses.

Fashion Photography for the Website

A major part of the project involved creating professional photography for the dresses featured on the website.

Rather than relying on stock imagery, all photographs were produced specifically for the project. This included:

  • Sourcing and organising a model
  • Photographing the dresses
  • Producing imagery suitable for the website and product listings

Using original photography helped give the website a professional boutique appearance and allowed the dresses to be presented in the best possible way.

A Platform Ready for Growth

The finished website provided Fairy Queen with a complete online platform to promote the business, showcase dresses and accept both online purchases and bespoke design enquiries.

The site combined:

  • E‑commerce functionality
  • Custom order forms
  • Professional fashion photography
  • A clean boutique style design

Although the business has since closed and the website is no longer online, the project demonstrated how a well designed e‑commerce website can support a small fashion brand by combining online sales with custom order enquiries.

Our Role in This Project

For this project we were responsible for:

  • WordPress website design and development
  • WooCommerce online store setup
  • Bespoke order form creation
  • Fashion photography for the website
  • Sourcing and organising the model for the photoshoot

Technologies Used

  • WordPress CMS
  • WooCommerce e‑commerce platform
  • Custom enquiry forms

Garage Equipment Website Design – Kent Garage Equipment

Garage Equipment Website Design – Kent Garage Equipment

Kent Garage Equipment is a specialist supplier of garage equipment, vehicle lifts and workshop tools, providing equipment and installation services for garages and automotive workshops across the UK.

While working with the company, I carried out a complete redesign of the Kent Garage Equipment website, modernising the design and restructuring the site to better support the company’s trade‑focused business model.

The project included rebuilding the website using WordPress and WooCommerce, while also developing new branding guidelines, marketing materials and brochure templates to ensure consistent branding across the business.

The Challenge – Restructuring the Website for Trade Customers

The previous website allowed customers to purchase products directly online, which created challenges because many of the products sold by Kent Garage Equipment require consultation before purchase.

Large workshop equipment such as vehicle lifts, MOT bays and garage installations often require:

  • Site assessments
  • Installation planning
  • Consultation with the customer

Because of this, the website needed to be redesigned so that customers could browse products and installations while contacting the company directly for quotations and advice.

garage equipment website design

WordPress and WooCommerce Website Development

The redesigned website was built using WordPress with WooCommerce, allowing the company to organise its products into a clear and easy‑to‑navigate catalogue.

WooCommerce provided a familiar e‑commerce style layout, allowing visitors to browse products in a structured way.

However, instead of allowing customers to purchase products directly online, the website was configured to encourage product enquiries rather than direct checkout.

This approach allows visitors to explore the equipment available while ensuring the company can properly advise customers before installation.

Installation Portfolio

A key feature of the website was the addition of a section showcasing previous installations carried out by the company.

These projects demonstrate the type of work Kent Garage Equipment carries out and provide potential customers with examples of completed installations.

Examples included:

  • Vehicle lift installations
  • MOT testing bays
  • Workshop equipment installations

Showing real installations helps build trust with potential customers while also demonstrating the experience and capabilities of the business.

garage equipment website design

Online Brochures with Flipbooks

To make it easier for visitors to view product information and marketing materials, the website also included interactive flipbooks for viewing brochures online.

These digital brochures allow visitors to:

  • Browse product catalogues directly on the website
  • View marketing materials without downloading files
  • Easily explore equipment specifications

This feature helps improve the user experience while making it easier for customers to access important product information.

garage equipment website design

Creating a Product Catalogue Experience

Although WooCommerce powers the product system, the website functions primarily as a product catalogue for garage equipment rather than a traditional online shop.

Visitors can browse equipment categories such as:

  • Vehicle lifts
  • Garage workshop equipment
  • MOT testing equipment
  • Automotive servicing tools

Each product page includes key information and encourages visitors to contact the company to discuss pricing and installation.

Branding Guidelines and Marketing Materials

Alongside the website redesign, I also developed a set of branding guidelines for the company.

These guidelines were created to ensure future employees could easily maintain consistent branding when producing marketing materials.

The guidelines included:

  • Logo usage rules
  • Colour palette and typography
  • Layout structure for marketing materials
  • Image and branding standards

Providing clear guidelines helps ensure the company maintains a professional and consistent brand identity across all communications.

Brochure and Template Design

As part of the project I also created brochure templates that could be easily updated by staff within the business.

These templates allowed employees to quickly create new marketing materials when promoting products or services.

By providing structured templates, the company could maintain consistent branding while allowing non‑design staff to produce professional looking brochures.

Suggested screenshot:
Example brochure layout

A Website Designed for a Specialist Industry

Garage equipment suppliers often deal with high‑value products and installation services, meaning customers typically require more information before making a purchase.

The redesigned Kent Garage Equipment website helps support this process by combining:

  • A structured product catalogue
  • Installation project examples
  • Online brochures
  • Enquiry‑focused calls to action

This ensures the website acts as both a marketing tool and a product information resource for potential customers.

My Role in This Project

This website redesign was completed while I was employed by Kent Garage Equipment.

My responsibilities included:

Technologies Used

  • WordPress CMS
  • WooCommerce product catalogue
  • Responsive website design
  • Flipbook brochure viewer

Land Rover Servicing Website Design – Gigglepin 4×4

Land Rover Servicing Website Design – Gigglepin 4×4

Gigglepin 4×4 is widely known within the off‑road community for manufacturing high‑performance winches and specialist 4×4 components. However, a large part of the business also comes from Land Rover servicing, maintenance and vehicle builds.

While working at Gigglepin 4×4, I designed and developed a dedicated WordPress website for their Land Rover servicing division to help promote the garage services offered by the business.

The goal of the project was to create a website that clearly showcased the mechanical services available, while also providing a place to promote career opportunities within the company.

Creating a Dedicated Website for the Garage

The existing Gigglepin website primarily focused on selling performance parts and winches, which meant there was limited space to properly highlight the mechanical services offered by the business.

To solve this, a separate website was created specifically for the Land Rover servicing side of the company.

This allowed the garage services to be presented clearly while targeting customers searching for:

  • Land Rover servicing
  • Land Rover repairs
  • Land Rover rebuilds
  • Specialist Land Rover mechanics
land rover servicing website

WordPress Website Development

The website was built using WordPress, providing a flexible content management system that allows the business to easily update service pages and add new content as required.

The site was structured to make it easy for visitors to quickly find information about the services available at the workshop.

Key sections of the website include:

  • Land Rover servicing
  • MOT preparation and maintenance
  • Engine rebuilds and vehicle rebuilds
  • Race vehicle builds and servicing
  • Parts and upgrades

This clear structure helps potential customers quickly understand the range of mechanical services offered by the garage.

land rover servicing website

Motorsport and Performance Vehicle Preparation

In addition to general servicing and repairs, Gigglepin also prepares competition vehicles for off‑road racing and winch challenges.

The website highlights this specialist capability, showcasing the workshop’s ability to build and maintain high performance Land Rover race vehicles used in competitive events.

This type of specialist service is a key differentiator and helps attract customers looking for experienced mechanics who understand off‑road vehicle performance.

land rover servicing website

Automotive Photography for the Website

All of the imagery used across the website was created using my own automotive photography.

This included images taken both during my time working at Gigglepin and photographs created previously which I made available for use on the website.

Using original photography allowed the website to feature authentic images of the workshop, vehicles and engineering work, rather than relying on stock images.

This helps build trust with potential customers by showing the real environment and work carried out at the garage.

Careers and Recruitment Section

Another important function of the website was to provide a place where job opportunities at Gigglepin could be advertised.

Because the main Gigglepin website is focused on product sales and manufacturing, it was not the ideal place to promote careers within the servicing department.

The Land Rover servicing website allowed the company to include a dedicated careers section, helping attract mechanics and technicians interested in working with specialist Land Rover vehicles.

land rover servicing website

Supporting the Core Business

The Land Rover servicing website plays an important role in supporting the core workshop services offered by Gigglepin.

By separating the servicing side of the business from the e‑commerce website, the company is able to communicate more clearly with two different audiences:

  • Customers looking to purchase parts and winches
  • Vehicle owners looking for specialist Land Rover servicing

This approach helps ensure each website is focused on its specific audience while still supporting the wider Gigglepin brand.

My Role in This Project

This website was designed and developed while I was employed by Gigglepin 4×4.

My responsibilities included:

Many of the images used across the website were my own automotive photographs, which I allowed the company to use to support the project.

Technologies Used

  • WordPress CMS
  • Responsive website design
  • Custom styling and layout
  • Automotive photography
  • Service‑focused website structure

Motorsport Website Design – Gigglepin Racing

Motorsport Website Design – Gigglepin Racing

Gigglepin Racing is the competitive motorsport arm of Gigglepin 4×4, competing in extreme off‑road events and winch challenges across the UK and internationally. The racing team plays an important role in showcasing the performance and reliability of Gigglepin products in real‑world competition environments.

While working at Gigglepin 4×4, I was responsible for the redesign of the Gigglepin Racing website, transforming it from a site focused on sponsored drivers into a platform that highlighted the Gigglepin race team, vehicles and sponsors.

The goal was to create a website that could promote the team, showcase sponsors and keep fans updated with race results and event coverage.

The Challenge – Refocusing the Racing Website

The original website primarily focused on Gigglepin sponsored drivers, featuring information about various competitors and their vehicles.

As the direction of the racing programme evolved, the focus shifted toward promoting the Gigglepin race team itself, along with the sponsors that supported the team.

This required a complete redesign of the website structure to better highlight:

  • The Gigglepin race vehicles
  • Team race calendar and upcoming events
  • Sponsoring brands
  • Race news and updates

Website Redesign Using Wix

The website was rebuilt using the Wix website platform, which allowed us to create a visually engaging website that could easily be updated with race news and event information.

The design focused on strong visual content, reflecting the high‑energy nature of off‑road motorsport.

Key improvements included:

  • A modern website layout
  • Improved navigation for fans and sponsors
  • Clear sections dedicated to the race team and vehicles
  • A blog to share race updates and event coverage
motorsport website design

Race Calendar and Event Information

Motorsport fans often want to know where and when a team will be competing, so a dedicated race calendar was added to the website.

This allows visitors to easily see:

  • Upcoming events
  • Race locations
  • Competition schedules

The race calendar helps keep supporters informed and encourages spectators to attend events where the team will be competing.

motorsport website design

Showcasing the Race Vehicles

A key part of the website was a section dedicated to the Gigglepin race vehicles.

These pages highlight the engineering and preparation that goes into building competitive off‑road vehicles, while also showcasing the components and products used within the builds.

This section provides fans with an inside look at the vehicles used in competition and the technology behind them.

motorsport website design

Promoting Sponsors

Sponsors play an essential role in motorsport, helping teams compete at the highest level.

The redesigned website included dedicated sections to highlight and promote the brands that supported Gigglepin Racing, with links to sponsor websites and branding integrated throughout the site.

This provides sponsors with additional exposure while strengthening the relationship between the racing team and the businesses supporting it.

motorsport website design

Race Photography and Visual Content

Motorsport is a highly visual sport, so photography played a major role in the design of the website.

Many of the images used across the site were captured at racing events, providing authentic imagery that reflects the excitement and intensity of off‑road competition.

These photographs were used throughout the website to enhance:

  • Race reports and blog updates
  • Vehicle pages
  • Homepage banners and promotional sections

Blog for Race Updates

To keep fans informed throughout the racing season, the website also included a blog section for race updates.

This allowed the team to publish articles covering:

  • Race results
  • Event reports
  • Behind‑the‑scenes content
  • Updates on vehicle development

Regular updates help maintain engagement with supporters and provide ongoing exposure for sponsors.

Automotive E‑commerce Website Design – Gigglepin 4×4

Automotive E‑commerce Website Design – Gigglepin 4×4

Gigglepin 4×4 is one of the most recognised names in the off‑road and winching industry, supplying high‑performance components and accessories to customers around the world. Their online store plays a crucial role in the business, allowing customers to browse and purchase specialist 4×4 performance parts and accessories online.

While working at Gigglepin 4×4, I was responsible for the design and visual development of the Gigglepin4x4.net e‑commerce website, improving both the user experience and the presentation of the product catalogue.

The project focused on improving mobile usability, product discovery and visual presentation while working within the technical limitations of the EKM e‑commerce platform.

The Challenge – An Outdated E‑commerce Experience

The existing website had been built on the EKM platform, which provides a powerful e‑commerce system but also places some restrictions on how the front‑end can be customised.

One of the biggest issues with the previous version of the site was that it was not fully mobile friendly, making it difficult for customers to browse products and place orders on smartphones and tablets.

With a growing number of customers shopping via mobile devices, improving the mobile shopping experience became a key objective of the redesign.

Mobile‑Friendly E‑commerce Design

A major part of the project involved redesigning the website layout to ensure it worked effectively across all screen sizes.

The improvements included:

  • Mobile responsive layout adjustments
  • Improved product page layouts
  • Better navigation for browsing categories
  • Clearer product imagery and presentation

These changes made it much easier for customers to browse the store and purchase products directly from their mobile devices.

automotive ecommerce website design

Another major improvement introduced during the redesign was predictive search functionality with product images.

Instead of customers needing to navigate through multiple product categories, they could begin typing the name of a product and instantly see suggested results.

The predictive search feature displays:

  • Product names
  • Thumbnail images
  • Quick links to product pages

This significantly improves product discovery, particularly on large e‑commerce stores where customers may already know the product they are looking for.

Product Photography for the Online Store

A key part of improving the website was the creation of high quality product photography.

Clear product images are essential for e‑commerce websites, particularly for specialist automotive components where customers want to see exactly what they are purchasing.

Photography was produced specifically for the website to ensure consistent lighting, clean backgrounds and detailed imagery that accurately represents the products.

This approach helps improve:

  • Product presentation
  • Customer confidence when purchasing online
  • Overall visual quality of the store

Working Within the EKM Platform

The Gigglepin website runs on the EKM e‑commerce platform, which manages the store’s core functionality including product management, payments and order processing.

While this platform provides powerful e‑commerce tools, it also limits the level of structural modification that can be made to certain elements of the site.

Because of this, the focus of the project was on:

  • Improving the visual design
  • Enhancing product presentation
  • Optimising the layout for mobile users
  • Improving product discovery through predictive search

This approach allowed the store to maintain the reliability of the EKM platform while still benefiting from a significantly improved user experience.

Supporting a Global Automotive Brand

Gigglepin 4×4 products are used by off‑road enthusiasts and competitors around the world. As a result, the e‑commerce website plays a vital role in connecting the brand with an international customer base.

The improved website design helped ensure that customers could easily:

  • Browse specialist 4×4 components
  • Find products quickly using search
  • View detailed product images
  • Complete purchases smoothly on any device

My Role in This Project

This website redesign was completed while I was employed by Gigglepin 4×4.

My responsibilities included:

  • Website design and layout improvements
  • Mobile responsive design adjustments
  • Product photography
  • Visual presentation of the online shop
  • Implementation of predictive search with product images

Mechanic Website Design – Classic Mechanic

Mechanic Website Design – Classic Mechanic

Classic Mechanic is a specialist classic car restoration business run by Glen Woolway. After spending decades working in the automotive industry, Glen decided that as he approached retirement he wanted to focus purely on the type of work he was most passionate about – restoring classic cars.

To help launch the new venture we created a simple, affordable website design for a mechanic, designed specifically to promote Glen’s classic car restoration services and generate enquiries from enthusiasts.

Despite being a relatively simple website, it has proven extremely successful and now generates so much work that Glen regularly has to turn new enquiries away.

From Automotive Career to Classic Car Restoration

Glen Woolway has been involved in the automotive trade since the age of 14, starting out as a pump attendant at a garage in Wateringbury, Kent.

Over the years he built a successful career within the motor industry, eventually finishing his corporate career working with Mazda. However, with retirement approaching he decided it was time to focus on something closer to his heart – working on classic cars.

Classic Mechanic was created to allow Glen to continue working in the industry he loves while specialising in the restoration and maintenance of classic vehicles.

One of the cars closely associated with the business is Glen’s 1957 Ford 100E Escort Estate, which is an extremely rare classic vehicle. The car was even featured in Classic Ford Magazine in 2012, highlighting both the rarity of the vehicle and the quality of restoration work involved.

Built Using Our “Website in a Day” Service

The Classic Mechanic website was created using our Website in a Day service, which is designed to help small service‑based businesses launch a professional website quickly and affordably.

Many start‑ups and sole traders do not need a large multi‑page website when they first begin trading. Instead, they need a simple, well‑structured website that clearly explains their services and makes it easy for customers to get in touch.

With this service we spend a day working closely with the business owner to plan the structure, content and layout of the website before building and launching the site the next day.

This approach allows businesses to get online quickly and start generating enquiries without the delays that often come with larger website development projects.

One‑Page Website Design for a Service Business

For this project we created a single page website with navigatable sections, allowing visitors to easily move through the different areas of the site.

Instead of loading multiple pages, the navigation links smoothly scroll to each section of the website.

The website includes sections for:

  • Information about Glen and his experience
  • Classic car restoration services
  • Example restoration projects
  • Contact information for enquiries

This style of website works particularly well for service‑based businesses where the main goal is to generate enquiries rather than publish large amounts of content.

As part of the project we also created the Classic Mechanic logo.

The design was inspired by the traditional sign writing on Glen’s wife’s van, helping create a brand identity that reflected the classic automotive theme of the business.

This branding is now used across the website and other materials to give the business a consistent and recognisable visual identity.

Showcasing Restoration Projects

Although the website is primarily a single page design, we also created portfolio pages so that Glen could showcase examples of the restoration work he carries out.

These pages allow potential customers to see the quality of previous projects and the types of classic vehicles Glen works on.

For specialist automotive businesses, showing previous work is extremely important as it builds trust and confidence with potential customers.

Why One‑Page Websites Work Well for Small Businesses

For many small businesses, particularly trades and specialist services, a one‑page website can be an ideal starting point.

Instead of spreading information across multiple pages, everything is presented in a clear layout that is easy to navigate on both desktop and mobile devices.

Benefits include:

  • Faster development time
  • Lower development costs
  • Simple navigation for visitors
  • Clear calls to action for enquiries

This approach works particularly well for mechanics, tradespeople and specialist service providers who need a professional website but do not require a large or complex platform.

From Retirement Project to Fully Booked Workshop

The goal of the Classic Mechanic website was simply to create a professional online presence for a small start‑up business.

However, the website has proven to be far more successful than expected. Thanks to strong online visibility and interest from classic car enthusiasts, the site now generates more work than Glen can comfortably take on during retirement.

In fact, the business now produces more income than his previous role as a garage director, demonstrating the impact a well‑designed website can have for a specialist service business.

Automotive Website Design & E‑commerce Development – HPE Motorsport

HPE Motorsport are one of the most recognised names in the Classic Ford performance engine industry, specialising in modified engines including the Pinto, Kent X‑Flow and Cosworth. With a heritage dating back to the 1930s, Harris Performance has built a reputation for engineering high performance engines used by enthusiasts and motorsport competitors across the UK and internationally.

When James Harris approached us, the company needed a modern website redesign that would better represent the brand, improve the customer experience and allow them to sell performance parts online.

The result was a custom WordPress website with e‑commerce functionality, designed to support both engine builds and online parts sales.

About Harris Performance / HPE Motorsport

Harris Performance was founded in the 1930s by Ron Harris, often referred to as “The Conrod Father”. The business originally began by modifying motorcycles before moving into the development of high‑performance Ford engines.

The company has since passed through generations of the Harris family:

  • Ron Harris – founder
  • Jeff Harris – expanded the company and built its reputation
  • James Harris – continuing the legacy with HPE Motorsport

Today HPE Motorsport is widely known among enthusiasts for building some of the best modified Classic Ford engines available.

The Challenge – An Outdated Website

When we first visited the existing website it was clear that the site no longer reflected the quality of the engineering work produced by HPE Motorsport.

The main issues included:

  • An outdated website design
  • Difficult navigation
  • No way to easily sell parts online
  • Too many enquiries for engine builds that were outside customers’ budgets

The goal of the project was to create a modern motorsport website that solved these problems while supporting the next stage of the business as James Harris continued the company legacy.

Custom Engine Builder Tool

One of the biggest challenges James faced was the amount of time spent creating quotes for potential engine builds.

Many enquiries came from customers who did not fully understand the cost of building a high‑performance engine, which meant a lot of time was spent preparing quotes that did not convert into work.

To solve this we created a simple online engine builder tool.

The tool allows visitors to:

  1. Choose the engine platform
  2. Select performance upgrades
  3. Receive an estimated budget for their engine build

This gives customers a realistic idea of pricing while allowing them to begin the process of commissioning an engine build.

Automotive E‑commerce Website

Another key goal of the project was to allow HPE Motorsport to sell performance parts online.

James had been developing several unique products for Harris Performance which until that point had primarily been sold through a Facebook group.

The new online shop allowed the company to:

  • Sell parts and accessories online
  • Reach customers outside the UK
  • Showcase unique Harris Performance components
  • Manage orders and inventory more efficiently

This also created a new opportunity for Jeff Harris to remain involved in the business as he moved toward retirement, focusing on parts and product development rather than full engine builds.

High Quality Automotive Photography

Because HPE Motorsport produces premium performance components, the website required professional product photography to match the quality of the engineering.

Commercial photographer Darren Woolway produced a series of bespoke images specifically for the website.

One of the standout images was a race clutch photographed in an exploded configuration, where each plate was captured separately to show the individual components.

The final image was so precise that many viewers initially assumed it was computer‑generated (CGI).

Product Photography for Performance Parts

Additional photography was created for a wide range of components including:

  • Pinto engine components
  • Kent X‑Flow parts
  • Exhaust systems
  • Carburettors
  • Differential components
  • Pulley kits

The goal was to create clean, high‑contrast product photography that clearly showed the engineering quality of each part.

Website Launch Strategy

Launching a website at the right moment can make a big difference to its success.

To create a clear deadline we suggested launching the website on New Year’s Day, complete with a countdown timer on the homepage.

This gave the client a fixed timeframe to complete the written content and helped build anticipation for the launch.

A signup form was also added to the homepage so fans of the brand could register for launch updates

Launch Results

The website launch was an immediate success.

The first order was placed just 20 minutes after the website went live, demonstrating the demand for Harris Performance products online.

Soon after launch the website began receiving interest from customers as far as:

  • Germany
  • Australia

Future development plans included international shipping with weight‑based delivery calculations to support this growing global demand.

Before and After Website Redesign

The new website represented a major improvement over the previous site, bringing the brand into line with the quality of its engineering work.

The redesign included:

  • Modern responsive website design
  • E‑commerce functionality for parts sales
  • Custom engine build estimator tool
  • High quality product photography
  • Improved navigation and user experience
